After 1948, glass bead manufacturing in Poniklá became part of an enormous jewellery company, the national Glass Jewellery company, later Železny Brod Glass. At that time, designers began to incorporate various other materials produced by the national company into ornaments. At first they used metal components or chenille. From the 1970s onwards, plastic components began to play a dominant role, especially various mouldings or plastic foil. “Foil men” – figures with a glass head and a body made of dyed foil – were very popular.
