If you would like to learn about the craft of glass bead blowing, come right to Poniklá. We’ll show you the entire handmade production process in our workshops. It’s not exactly a simple process: each bead is first blown through a glass tube and is then worked on by at least six pair of hands before it becomes part of a finished ornament. During the tour you will see how beads are blown, silver coated, dyed and cut, and finally thread into ornaments. You will see original glassmaking technologies which have changed very little since the early 20th century. The handmade production of glass bead ornaments was inscribed in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2020 and is unparalleled anywhere in the world.

- Tours last about 40 minutes and you will see the entire glass bead ornament production process – from a glass tube to a finished ornament.
- Tours take place in Czech. For our international visitors, we have explanatory texts in English, German and Polish.
- We recommend booking your tour in advance to avoid a wait. We are especially busy during the summer school holidays and pre-Christmas season.
- After the tour, you can visit our creative workshop and make your own glass bead ornament. In the creative workshop, you pay only for the material you use to create your ornaments.

Groups of more than 15 people
Tours for larger groups must be reserved in advance by phone or e-mail.
We will be happy to arrange a tour to suit your needs and specify the details with you directly.
We divide groups of 20 or more people into two smaller groups, where one group goes on the
tour while the other uses the creative workshop and makes a star ornament and then the groups switch.

After your tour
Creative workshop
Let us teach you the basics of glass bead ornament assembly in our creative workshop. Under the guidance of our instructors, you can try your hand at making simple ornaments or make one of your own design. You pay only for the material you use and you can stay as long as you like in the creative workshop. We recommend combining a visit to the creative workshop with a tour of the production facility, where you can learn about all the steps in the glass bead production process.
Hours of operation of the creative workshop: Daily: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The creative workshop can accommodate 30 people at a time. Reservations are generally not required but if you plan on spending a long time in the workshop, we recommend calling us in advance to make arrangements at: +420 733 737 430.
Company store
You can find the biggest selection of glass bead Christmas ornaments, including new collections and unique designs, in our store in Poniklá. You’ll be dazzled by the sparkle in our store! We sell creative hobby sets with which you can make a glass bead ornament, as well as blown glass beads that you can use to create your own designs.

“Nad věcí” shop
You can also visit our “Nad věcí” shop on the village square in Poniklá. It offers sweet and savoury snacks, excellent coffee, beverages, popsicles and a range of products from local producers.
