Silvering
The blown “klaučata” pass to the silvering room. Using a pump, a solution of silver nitrate is injected into each bead; silver deoxidizes on the inside of glass walls. The whole reaction lasts for about 20 minutes – the originally transparent solution slowly turns black first and then a silvery gloss appears. The whole silvering process is a bit of an alchemy, sometimes very little indeed is enough to make all the beads turn black or create “blind glass beads” – beads with white opaque coating.
